From 25 to 28 May 2026, a delegation of students from the University of Banja Luka took part in a study visit to Brussels, Leuven and Ghent, organized for the second consecutive year by the Representation of the Republic of Srpska in Brussels in cooperation with the University of Banja Luka.

The study visit was organized as part of the Representation’s continued efforts to support academic exchange and strengthen connections between students from the Republic of Srpska and European institutions, universities, and international networks.

During their stay in Brussels, the students had the opportunity to visit European Union institutions and gain a closer understanding of the functioning of the EU, its decision-making processes, and the role Brussels plays as the political and administrative centre of Europe. In addition to institutional meetings and presentations, participants explored the historical and cultural heritage of the Belgian capital, further enriching their understanding of the European context.

This year’s programme was further expanded with visits to Leuven and Ghent, two of Belgium’s most prominent university cities. The delegation became acquainted with the rich history, architectural heritage, and cultural significance of both cities, while also learning more about the work and academic traditions of two of Europe’s leading universities KU Leuven and Ghent University. Through presentations and discussions with representatives of the academic community, students were introduced to different models of higher education, research cooperation, and international academic exchange.

The study trip provided students with valuable insight into European academic and institutional practices, while also creating opportunities for future cooperation and professional development.

The Representation of the Republic of Srpska in Brussels remains committed to organizing initiatives of this kind, which contribute to strengthening international cooperation, promoting academic mobility, and enhancing the visibility of the Republic of Srpska within the European educational and institutional space.
